Hand pieced and hand quilted in straight horizontal lines two inches apart.
Great collection of antique cotton prints. Never used or washed, the quilt is in perfect condition other than two 1/4" brown spots on backing. No fabric fade. The backing has one seam. A great collector's quilt or use it on your best bed! $625.00

MAGNIFICENT Redwork - dated 1896
36 detailed embroidered squares
finished and unwashed - lightly used, if ever!
Big enough to be used as a spread for a queen-sized bed, this quilt is in good condition. The top edge is worn, there are some very small holes in the white fabric, a few age spots, and the embroidery thread is starting to thin in areas where there was wear and friction from use. Fruits, children, animals, flowers, vegetables, home and barn...this quilt has it all!

Quality and consistency of the embroidery work leads me to believe the blocks were all made by the same skilled embroiderer

This quilt boasts a thin batting and is hand pieced and quilted. Quilting averages 8spi. A few age spots and pencil lines visible. In two blocks, the following was found quilted: AJ 21. Perhaps an "emancipation" quilt ?
